30th July, first day of competition. All the students are very nervous when we reach Suntec City because they are going to compete very soon. Due to we need to register around 7.45am, so our morning call has to be 6am, which is quite early.

When we step into Suntec City, many participants already reached and started to register. Students are really excited because most of them never join Asia Pacific Harmonica Festival before.

You can see how many students are under Fresco’s training.

This is registration counter. They need to confirm whether have you brought 5 copies of scores for the judges.

Fresco’s founder, Soon Hock Chuan is one of the youngest judge in Asia Pacific Harmonica Festival 2010.

All the judges are come from different countries.

This is a very special group because 3 of them come from a family.

Ng Jing Yu, participating in Harmonica Solo Junior Category.

They will show each of the groups and song title on projector screen.

Wong Chee Hong together with his pianist – Junie Yong are playing in Harmonica Solo Youth Category.

This is the booth for selling CDs and souvenir book. You can see the Fresco Harmonica Ensemble and Soon Hock Chuan’s photos in the book that Evelyn’s holding.

Lee Hea Bong from Korea are demostrating the electronic tremolo harmonica in front of students.

Fresco Soon is announcing the final round name list to the students. For those who able to go to final round, they need to compete for the next day and for those who doesn’t, they already tried their best and compete for the next 2 years.

After we complete the first day of competition, we take a move to hotel for a short break, then we back to Suntec City again to attend the opening of Asia Pacific Harmonica Festival 2010. The opening is started with the lion dance, followed by Singapore harmonica players to perform a few songs. After that, they do have some cultural dances. The show is ended around 10.30pm.
